My Therapist and I Agree - Sarcastic T Shirts

$29.99

Six sessions in, at $145 an hour, the findings are back. The coworker who microwaves fish at 11:40. The neighbor whose leaf blower starts at 7:02 on a Saturday. The group chat that has been deciding on brunch since Tuesday. Each case was presented in full, with dates, and the therapist nodded at every one. A nod is agreement. Personal growth is still the goal; it just turns out other people have more of it to do. A funny therapy shirt for anyone who did the work and came out of it right. Next session is Thursday. Bringing a list.

THE FINE PRINT

Four lines of rounded marker-style hand lettering, stacked flush left as one block. My therapist, and I agree and the problem is run in white; everyone else closes the block in red at the same size. Heavy round-ended strokes, sentence case, no punctuation and no distress. Type only, nothing drawn.

ASKING FOR A FRIEND

Why does everyone annoy me so much?

Short sleep, hunger, stress and too many hours around people without a break all lower the threshold for irritation, and burnout makes it worse. If it lasts for weeks, it is worth raising with a doctor or a therapist. A therapist may also hear the full list and simply nod.

Can a therapist tell you what to do?

Mostly no. A good therapist helps you sort out your own choices rather than handing down instructions, though they will suggest strategies, exercises and things to try between sessions. So when a session ends with the problem located in other people, that conclusion technically belongs to the client. The therapist just did not argue.

How do you know if you are the problem?

Look for patterns: the same conflict with different people in different places, the same complaint from several friends, and stories where you are never the one who did anything. One rough patch with one person proves little; five jobs and three roommates that all ended the same way deserve an honest look. Some people take that look with a professional and come back with a short list of other people's names.
