Is attendance mandatory in college?
It depends on the professor and the school. Many colleges have no campus-wide attendance rule, but individual instructors can require it, grade participation, or drop students who miss too many classes, and financial aid offices can ask for proof that you attended at all. Read the syllabus before the first home game, not after.
What is academic probation?
Academic probation is a warning status a college puts on a student whose GPA falls below its minimum, often a 2.0. The student usually gets a term or two to bring the average back up, sometimes with a cap on credit hours or required advising, before suspension or dismissal is on the table. Most schools do not count tailgating hours toward the recovery plan.
What to bring to a tailgate as a guest?
Bring something to share that holds up outdoors: a side dish, a bag of ice, drinks for more people than just you, and a folding chair unless the host says there are extras. Ask what the host is grilling so you do not show up with the same thing. Arriving three hours before kickoff is also accepted as a contribution.
